This is Why We LOVE Face Masks!

Face masks can seem cumbersome for the time-strapped — it’s an extra skin-care step that requires up to 15 minutes of need-to-sit-still downtime followed by a rather vigorous rinse. So, why bother? The truth is, these treatments can leave your complexion even, calm, and glowing — much like a facial would — in about the time it takes to blow-dry your hair. Our very own Trina Renea outlines the many uses of face masks and why you should incorporate them into your weekly skincare regime!

  • moisturizing – Many moisturizing masks contain good skin oils such as squalane to help replenish natural oil loss. It restores comfort and hydration, leaving skin feeling soft and smooth.

  • calming – Many calming masks contain Azulene, Chamomile and Aloe to help bring down redness and inflammation.

  • clarifying/purifying – Clarifying/purifying masks are great for acneic skin and usually contain ingredients like Kaolin and Bentonite to draw out and absorb impurities. Sulfur is another great ingredient to reduces acne’s severity as it encourages skin to clear.

  • radiance – A mask that claims radiancy usually contains some kind of glycolic acid to help shed dead skin to give it a bright radiant glow.

  • exfoliation – Many exfoliating masks contain some kind of AHA’s or exfoliating beads to help get rid of unwanted dead skin.

  • sleeping – sleep masks are designed for the eye area. Usually with a soft combination of 100% cotton and silk that is easy on delicate eyes and skin.

  • post-treatment recovery – Post- treatment Recovery masks are creamy and moisturizing, rich and soothing. They usually contain ingredients to help repair the lipid barrier, like Ceramides, jojoba oil and squalane.

  • eye masks – Eye Masks like sleeping masks are meant to keep light out and have a soft material like silk to help soothe the eyes and make them relax to prevent wrinkles.
